Casa is a community project developed with children from the Quinta das Mós neighborhood, where various forms of artistic experimentation served as a catalyst for us to collectively examine the neighborhood where we live.

In a residency format, daily drawing and painting workshops were held over the course of two weeks in the public space, allowing us to explore the inner worlds of Quinta das Mós’s residents.

We explored the concept of home: “What makes me feel at home?”, “Who is part of my home?”, “How do I imagine my dream home?” From this reflection emerged large-scale collective drawings depicting the neighborhood.

Throughout the project, residents expressed the need to improve public spaces. This led to paintings on the neighborhood’s benches, where the children’s dreams served as the artistic inspiration for creating visual compositions.

Casa came to a close with a presentation at Quinta Alegre on July 25, where we showcased the drawings and manifestos resulting from the project and held a live drawing session with the Lisbon Drawing Club.

The central objective of Casa was to encourage a creative appropriation of public space and promote new access to culture in the Quinta das Mós neighborhood. Art played a fundamental role in the revitalization of the area and fostered new relationships between the community and the place.
