PANO-CRU is a community art project developed with senior women living in the Santo António and Arroios areas of Lisbon. From July to October 2026, a series of gatherings took place in the garden of the Goethe-Institut library.

Over the course of several workshops, the garden became a space for discussing what it means to be a woman, in the past and in the present. Visual art exercises, combined with embroidery and sewing, gave us a glimpse into the lives and memories of this group of neighbours. Stepping outside the world of books, we drew and wrote less-told stories: those of our mothers, godmothers and grandmothers.

The process culminated in a textile installation presented to the community on 7 October 2026. Personal photographs, dedications and paintings on raw cotton weave together a shared story, returning to the knowledge passed down from generation to generation in a collective reflection on womanhood.
